We love sugary sweet things – who doesn’t?
The problem is that sometimes we eat a little bit too much sugar. According to the American Heart Association, the average American eats an average of 77 grams of sugar per day. That is 3 times the recommended amount for women. That amount is even higher for children who consume over 81 grams of sugar per day.
The problem is that a lot of the time we don’t realize how much sugar is in the items we are eating and drinking. That is why we want to create a site that not only tells you how much sugar goes into everyday items but also shows you some low sugar alternatives.
We are a husband and wife team. Having been in the food industry for 11 years creating, running, and operating healthier sweet food businesses, our goal has been to create better-for-you alternatives that never compromise on taste and are only ever sweetened with natural fruit sugars. Finding ways of naturally sweetening foods can be a challenge.
Why We Created This Site…
We create this site to give you easy access to exactly know, not just what low sugar options are, but exactly what the low-sugar options are at your favorite food and beverage places.
- Love going out for a latte or coffee – we are going to tell you exactly what the low sugar options are at your favorite coffee store.
- Love fast food – we are going to tell you exactly what the low sugar options are at your favorite fast-food chains.
In 2012, we made the move to running, operating, and creating plant-based food businesses in both the UK and the USA. After completing our MBAs we realized that our passion lay in business – particularly in the “better for you” food business. For 11 years, we have been in the consumer food industry working with and selling healthier plant-based foods to grocery stores and operating better-for-you plant-based restaurants and food trucks.
Our biggest achievement to date is creating and operating a dessert concept in Los Angeles, California. We make our desserts using minimal ingredients and sweeten only with fruit sugar.
We have always loved sweet things, but are conscious about the amount of sugar we eat as well as how we feel after eating too much sugar. Creating, finding, and eating lower sugar alternatives to everyday food has developed into a passion project and one we wanted to share with you by creating Low Sugar Snax.
Whilst, we both follow a plant-based diet, our two daughters do not. So we are used to looking for and buying low sugar food for our whole family regardless of dietary preference. So regardless of your dietary preference, we hope Los Sugar Snax is a useful resource for you for finding lower sugar snacks.
Low Sugar Snax isn’t just about informing you about sugar and low sugar options, it is about giving you a resource you can use when you go out for your favorite snack or treat.
You can’t control what sugar is added, but you can control how much you eat.
And always remember…
