In order to answer this question, I randomly selected some large gummy worms, some mini worms, and some sugar-free/reduced sugar worms and analyzed the sugar content on a per-gummy worm basis. How Much Sugar is in Gummy Worms?
As a general rule, large gummy worms tend to contain 4.3g-5g of sugar each. Mini worms tend to contain 1.75g-2.1g of sugar per mini worm. Reduced sugar and added sugar-free worms tend to contain less than 0.5g of sugar per worm.

Ranking the Sugar Content of Gummy Worm Brands – item-by-item
In this section, I am going to go through each the of 10 gummy worm brands I listed in the table above item by item. The aim is to give you a better idea of each individual brand. I go through each in descending order of sugar content per worm.
1. Albanese World’s Best Large Assorted Fruit Gummy Worms – 5g of Total Sugar
I have talked about Albanese before in the post I wrote on the sugar content of gummy bears (you can read it here – How Much Sugar is in Gummy Bears? You Will Be Surprised!).
Well, gummy bears aren’t all that Albanese make – they also make large assorted gummy worms. Albanese’s large fruit gummy worms are sweetened with corn syrup and sugar and there are 5g of sugar per Albanese gummy worm.
2. Fruidles Large Gummy Worms – 5g of Total Sugar
These large gummy worms from Fruidles also contain 5g of sugar per gummy worm. Fruidles Large Gummy Worms packs also come in the same weight as Albanese above (entry 1) at just over 11g.
3. Black Forest Gummy Worms – 4.3g of Total Sugar
Black Forest gummy worms are made with real fruit juice! Black Forest’s gummy bears are also slightly lower in sugar than Albanese and Fruidles at 4.3g of sugar per worm. These worms, like most worms, are sweetened with corn syrup and sugar.
4. Haribo Rainbow Gummy Worms – 3.5g of Total Sugar
Next on the list is one of the leading players in gummy sweets – Haribo. These gummy worms from Haribo are smaller in size than most other brands. So, it makes sense that as Haribo gummy worms are smaller than the above gummy worms they contain less sugar.
There are 3.5g of total sugar per Haribo gummy worm.
These worms are sweetened with sugar, glucose syrup, and dextrose.
Mini-Gummy Worm Brands
These worms are somewhere in between large gummy worms and mini gummy worms in terms of size. On the topic of small gummy worms let’s dive into how much sugar mini gummy worms contain.
5. Yupik Mini Gummy Worms – 2.1g of Total Sugar
Next up on the list are some mini gummy worms from Yupik. So how much sugar do mini gummy worms contain? Well, there are 2.1g of total sugar in a Yupik mini gummy worm.
The sugar in Yupik mini worms comes from sugar and corn syrup. Perfect for when you just want a little bit of a gummy worm.
6. Albanese World’s Best Sour 12 Flavor Mini Gummi Worms – 2g of Total Sugar
Albanese’s sour mini worms have a similar sugar content at 2g of sugar per mini worm. So, if you are craving Albanese worms but are watching your sugar content it may be an idea to go for their mini worms over their full-size ones. They contain 3g less sugar than their full-sized version.
7. Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers Sour Gummy Worms – 1.75g of Total Sugar
The final mini-size gummy worm I looked at is Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers. Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers are sweetened with sugar and syrup and contain 1.75g of total sugar per worm.
Sugar-Free Gummy Worm Brands
Okay, so far I have looked at the sugar content of large gummy worms and concluded they tend to contain around 4.3g-5g of sugar per worm. I have also looked at mini worms and they tend to contain 1.75g-2.1g of sugar per mini worm.
But how about no added sugar worms? Do they even exist?

8. Smart Sweets Gummy Worms – 0.5g of Total Sugar
The first sugar-free gummy worm I am going to present you with is from Smart Sweets. You must have seen Smart Sweets before in grocery stores – they have eye-catching packaging with “kick sugar keep candy” on the front.
One variety of sugar-free candies offered by Smart Sweets is its gummy worms. Smart Sweets Gummy worms are sweetened with Isomaltooligosaccharide and stevia. There is 0.5g of total sugar and 0g of added sugar per gummy worm.

9. Joyride by Project 7 Keto Gummies Sour Gummy Worms – 0.3g of Total Sugar

These gummy bears are sweetened with allulose, stevia, and organic cane sugar. There is 0.3g of total sugar per Joyride gummy worm. This means there are only 3g of sugar per bag of Joyride gummy worms. That is pretty great!

10. Lily’s Assorted Fruit Flavored No Sugar Added Sour Gummy Worms – <1g of Total Sugar
I have talked about Lily’s before in the post I wrote on the sugar content of gummy bears (How Much Sugar is in Gummy Bears? You Will Be Surprised!). Well Lily’ is rocking the no added sugar gummies as they also make a sour gummy worm too.
Lily’s gummies are sweetened with allulose, stevia, and erythritol.
There is <1g of total sugar per 51g pouch of Lily’s gummy worms. It is not clear how many gummy worms are in a pouch but regardless the sugar content on a worm basis will be negligible.

Sugar and/or corn syrup tend to be one of the first ingredients in gummy worms, meaning they are predominantly made of sugar.
There are some added sugar gummy worms available to buy as a lower-sugar alternative though.

All three contain <1g of sugar per worm. That is pretty amazing. Just make sure to always be on the lookout for these lower sugar options if you are watching your sugar content or looking to curb the sugar intake of certain smaller people in your life that love these things (a.k.a. your children).
