Is there a lot of sugar in Orange Juice? In this post, I am going to answer the question – is there a lot of sugar in orange juice? I will also go through and compare different brands of orange juice based on sugar content. According to the Florida Department of Citrus, around 90 percent of Americans drink orange juice at least once a week at breakfast. I mean who doesn’t love a cool glass of freshly squeezed orange juice? Unfortunately, if you are watching your sugar intake then orange juice may not be the friendliest drink available. So, how much sugar is there in a serving of orange juice, and what are some lower sugar alternatives available?

As a general rule, there are 22g-26g of total sugar in a 240ml serving of pure orange juice. None of this sugar is added – it is all naturally occurring from the oranges. On average, there are 9g-11g of total sugar in a 240ml glass of “light” stevia sweetened orange juice.

Ranking Orange Juice Brands – Item by Item

How much sugar is in orange juice? To answer this question, I randomly picked 5 pure oranges as well as 5 “light orange” juices and looked at the total sugar content of a 240ml glass of these orange juices. I rank these going from the least (9g of total sugar) to the highest amount of sugar (26g of sugar).

1. Signature Selects Orange Juice Beverage with Vitamins – 9g of Total Sugar

The lowest sugar orange juice I found on my search was Signature Selects Orange juice beverage, which can be found on Instacart here.

It says on the front of the bottle that this orange juice contains 50% less sugar than regular orange juice and it sure does. In fact, it contains more than 50% less sugar than regular orange juice. Like all the other light orange juices on this list, Signature Selects Orange juice is sweetened with stevia.

2. 365 By Whole Foods Market Organic Light Orange Juice – 10g of Total Sugar

Another lower sugar orange juice comes from 365 by Whole Foods Market. 365’s light orange juice is also sweetened with stevia and contains 10g of total sugar per 240 ml serving.  It also has the added benefit of being organic.
