General Rules for Ordering Low Sugar Drinks at Smoothie King

Here are some general rules for ordering low-sugar smoothies at Smoothie King.

  • Order a small size (20oz)
  • Manage weight” blends contain the least sugar. Every drink in the “manage weight” blends range does not contain added sugar. Every smoothie in this range (except for the Mangofest) contains 1g-37g of total sugar in a small 20oz cup.
  • Avoid “enjoy a treat” blends. They all contain added sugar and contain between 45g – 92g of total sugar for a small cup. As the name of the blends suggests, these blends are for if you fancy a treat.
  • The lowest sugar smoothies at Smoothie King tend to be coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry-flavored smoothies (with some exceptions such as the Hulk range). The fruitier smoothies tend to be higher in naturally occurring sugar.

For example, the Pure Recharge Pineapple and Pure Recharge Mango Strawberry both have no added sugar but they both contain 63g of naturally occurring sugar in a small cup.

  • Avoid the ‘Hulk‘ smoothies. These contain 89g-200g of total sugar depending on flavor and size.

Low sugar smoothies at Smoothie King. What have we learned from the above? Well, when it comes to smoothies there are a few things we need to know. First, the difference between no-added sugars and naturally occurring sugars – just because a smoothie has no added sugars doesn’t mean it will be sugar-free. It still may be high in naturally occurring sugars. Secondly, smoothies can be low in sugar, or they can be high in sugar. There is no general rule. The good news is that at Smoothie King there are plenty of lower sugar drink options coming in at a total of 1g of sugar (and no added sugars). These are mostly the Gladiator drinks.

The main thing is to be just careful what you order because some of the smoothies do contain a lot of sugar. In fact, at the high end, you could come away with a Hulk smoothie that has 82g to 200g of total sugars – which is probably fine if you are hulk-ish.
