In this post, I am going to share the sugar content of all the different types of bread available from Subway. Subway is one of my favorite quick lunchtime bites. Personally, I always opt for the 12-inch veggie sub and load it with veggies and finish it off with some Olive Oil, Oregano, and Mustard. If you have ever been to a Subway, you will know that the first question you are always asked is “what do you want?” and then “what bread do you want?”. Picking your bread is an important part of your sandwich, but how much sugar is exactly in all the different kinds of bread?
I am going to share the sugar content for all the different types of bread at Subway and then go through some Frequently Asked Questions when it comes to sugar and the types of bread available at Subway.

Is there Sugar in Subway Bread?
There is sugar in all Subway bread apart from the 6-inch Hero Bread which is sugar-free. There are also some Subway bread that contains naturally occurring sugar but do not contain any added sugar.
Does Subway Have Sugar-Free Bread?
Subway has one sugar-free bread on the menu – the 6-inch Hero Bread.
Is Subway High in Sugar?
As a general rule the 6-inch bread, wraps, and mini bread at Subway contain between 1g-3g of sugar. These types of bread contain between 0g-2g of added sugar the remaining amount of sugar is naturally occurring from the ingredients.
The two exceptions to this general rule are the gluten-free bread which contains 7g of sugar and the 6-inch Hero Bread which contains 0g of sugar.
Which Subway Bread has the Most Sugar?
The Subways bread which contains the most sugar is the gluten-free bread that contains 7g of sugar.

The Sugar Content of Bread at Subway in Ascending Order
In this section, I am going to go through each of the bread available at Subway ranking them in ascending order of sugar content.
1. 6-Inch Hero Bread – 0g of Sugar (0g of Added Sugar)
The Hero Bread at Subway is their healthy bread. It is endorsed by Tom Brady and is high in fiber, low in carbs, and of course, contains zero sugar.
This means if you are looking for the lowest sugar bread option at Subway you have found it in Hero Bread.
2. Spinach Wrap – 1g of Sugar (0g of Added Sugar)
If you prefer your sandwich in wrap format, then the spinach wrap at Subway may be the best option for you. It is also one of the lowest sugar bread options and the lowest wrap option on the Subway menu.
The Subway spinach wrap clocks in at 1g of sugar, 0g of which is added.
3. Mini Artisan Italian Bread – 1g of Sugar (1g of Added Sugar)
The other 1g of sugar bread on the Subway menu is the mini artisan Italian bread. All the Italian bread vibes, very little sugar.
4. Mini Hearty Multi Grain Bread – 2g of Sugar (1g of Added Sugar)
If you enjoy multi-grain bread and are watching your sugar intake, then the mini–Hearty Multi-Grain Bread is the best option at Subway for you. One only contains 2g of sugar (1g of which is added).
5. Tomato Basil Wrap – 2g of Sugar (1g of Added Sugar)
The other flavored wrap option on the Subway menu is its tomato basil wrap. This wrap contains 2g of sugar.

The only flatbread option on the Subway menu, the 6-inch Artisan Flat Bread contains 2g of sugar.

If you like the sound of the artisan Italian bread at Subway but want a bigger portion than the mini size, then rest assured that the 6-inch version is only a little higher in sugar.
The 6-inch Artisan Italian bread at Subway contains 2g of sugar.
9. 6 Inch Italian Herbs and Cheese – 2g of Sugar (2g of Added Sugar)
If you love your bread cheesy then it’s good to know the 6-inch Italian herbs and cheese bread contains 2g of sugar.
10. 6-Inch Jalapeno Cheddar 2g of Sugar (2g of Added Sugar)
The other cheesy bread option on the menu at Subway, the Jalapeno Cheddar also contains 2g of sugar in a 6-inch.
11. Biscuit – 3g of Sugar (0g of Added Sugar)
Do you love your subway biscuit style? The biscuit at Subway contains 3g of sugar.
12. 6-Inch Hearty Multi Grain – 3g of Sugar (2g of Added Sugar)
If you enjoy the hearty Multi Grain at Subway but want to upgrade from a mini size to a 6-inch, it will cost you an extra 1g of sugar. A 6-inch Hearty Multi Grain from Subway contains 3g of sugar.
13. Gluten-Free Bread – 7g of Sugar (0g of Added Sugar)
If you are gluten-free, then I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there is gluten-free bread on the Subway menu. The bad news is that it contains the most sugar at 7g of sugar. This is all naturally occurring sugar – there is no added sugar.

The sugar content of Subway Breads Ranked. What have we learned from the above? Well, if you want to keep your sugar content down in your sub you better pick the 6-inch Hero Bread which contains 0g of sugar. Now that said, the sugar content of the other bread options isn’t that high coming in at containing 1g to 3g of sugar.
If you are gluten-free, then you will be facing the bread with the highest amount of sugar at 7g of sugar.
As for me, what do I pick? Well, I always go for the Artisan Italian Bread in a veggie sub. I like all additional herb flavors and at 4g of sugar for a 12-inch sub, I am okay with that.
