I will list the 9 lowest sugar ice cream flavors from Häagen-Dazs and rank the sugar content of 41 of their ice cream pint flavors. Finally, I’ll go through some Frequently Asked Questions when it comes to sugar and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. The flavor I focus on will be the grocery pints Häagen-Dazs sells in grocery stores.
First, let’s answer the question – how much sugar is in Häagen-Dazs ice cream?
How Much Sugar is in Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream?
A 2/3 cup serving of Häagen-Dazs contains 22g-44g of sugar. Classic Häagen-Dazs flavors such as butter pecan, pistachio, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, and cookies & cream contain lower amounts of sugar (22g-25g of sugar). In comparison, Häagen-Dazs sorbets, seasonal flavors, spirit flavors, and more indulgent flavors, as a general rule, contain more sugar (up to 44g per serving).
Which Häagen-Dazs has the Least Sugar?
The Häagen-Dazs flavor which currently contains the least sugar is their butter pecan ice cream, which contains 22g of sugar per 2/3 cup serving. This is followed by Haggen-Dazs’ pistachio flavor which contains 23g of sugar. Their coffee ice cream contains 24g of sugar. Häagen-Dazs vanilla, chocolate, and cookies & cream are also relatively lower in sugar at 25g of sugar per serving.
Lowest Sugar Häagen-Dazs Ice Creams
Below are the lowest sugar Häagen-Dazs ice creams.
1. Butter Pecan – 22g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs butter pecan ice cream consists of “buttery roasted pecans folded into velvety sweet cream”. This is a “classic made fantastic“. Even more fantastic – a 2/3 cup contains 22g of sugar.
2. Pistachio – 23g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs pistachio ice cream is made of “lightly roasted California pistachios paired perfectly with velvety sweet cream.” Apparently, you will “go nuts over it.” You will also go nuts over the fact a serving contains 23g of sugar. Interestingly, Ben & Jerry’s pistachio ice cream is their lowest sugar ice cream (see my post on Ben& Jerry’s here for more details: 75 Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Flavors Ranked for Sugar Content). So, it’s good to know in any ice cream parlor that a pistachio flavor is probably a good option in terms of lower sugar content.
3. Coffee – 24g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream is made with Brazilian coffee beans, milk, eggs, cream, and sugar. It is also a lower sugar Häagen-Dazs flavor at 24g of sugar.
4. Vanilla – 25g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream is made from 5 simple ingredients – eggs, milk, cream, sugar, and Madagascar vanilla. There is 25g of sugar in a 2/3 cup serving.

Like their vanilla flavor, Häagen-Dazs’ chocolate ice cream is also made from five simple ingredients and contains 25g of sugar in a serving.
6. Cookies and Cream – 25g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs cookies & cream ice cream is made from chocolate cookies mixed into creamy vanilla ice cream. Even though it is a bit more of an indulgent flavor it contains 25g of sugar in a serving. This is also my personal favorite flavor.
7. Rum Raisin – 26g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs’ rum and raisin ice cream is made of “plump and delicious rum-soaked California raisins mixed into sweetened cream”. A 2/3 cup serving contains 26g of sugar.
8. Vanilla Swiss Almond – 26g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving
Häagen-Dazs’ Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream is made of chocolate-coated, roasted almonds stirred through their vanilla ice cream. It is “creamy meets crunchy“, as well as containing 26g of sugar per serving.
9. Vanilla Blackberry Chocolate Trio Crispy Layers – 27g of Sugar Per 2/3 Cup Serving

How Much Sugar Does Häagen-Dazs Have? – The Final Bite
How much sugar does Häagen-Dazs have? What have we learned from the above? Well, when it comes to Häagen-Dazs ice cream you can expect their flavors to have around 22g to 44g of sugar in a 2/3 cup serving. How does this compare to other brands like Ben and Jerry’s? Well, it is similar (you can expect to find 26g to 39g of sugar in a 2/3 cup serving of Ben and Jerry’s). If you want the lowest sugar option, then you need to choose the Butter Pecan flavor. After that lower sugar options include Pistachio, Coffee, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Cookies and Cream. All these options contain up to 25g of sugar per 2/3 cup.
Just remember the above figures are based on a 2/3 cup serving from a pint. If you decide to eat the whole pint – you are looking at a much higher sugar content. But don’t worry, I also listed the sugar content for a whole pint in the above table as well.
Ingredients and/or manufacturing processes may change. Always double-check ingredient lists and nutritional information before purchasing any food items.
